We are at the end of another amazing wedding season and we have had some incredible brides this year! One of our most memorable brides Carrie had a stunning wedding in Mexico as well as a beautiful reception in Edmonton and to top it off she wore one of our all time favourite Truvelle gowns, the Eden. Carrie was radiant in this rose gold sequinned beauty as she said “I do” against a simply picturesque backdrop.
Thank you Carrie for sharing your special day with us! We truly looked forward to working with you each time you came into the shop!

Tell us the story of how you and your fiancé met! When, where and how!
We met online! We were very fortunate. I didn’t want to go online but my friends encouraged me to do so. And I ended up talking with Allon and meeting him right in the beginning! We both felt right from the beginning that we had known each other forever. It was so easy, fun and comfortable! We dated for three years and then he completely surprised me November 2014 with a proposal! He recorded asking my dad to marry me. He cooked me dinner one relaxing Sunday night at home, then at the end of dinner he told me he had a funny video for me to watch on his phone (which isn’t uncommon for us to do that). He got up and walked away from the table for a second and then I realized it was a recording of him asking my dad for my hand in marriage! All of a sudden he was on one knee beside me in our dining room. It was so intimate, personal and perfect!
Um let’s talk about all the amazing in this photo…the dress, the water, the sky…it’s too much! My heart can’t take it!
Carrie’s twin sister Kristi found her bridal gown at Delica a couple years ago. Do we sense a family tradition starting? We don’t mind!
Tell us a bit about your wedding! Theme, colours, any special traditions etc.
We got engaged and married within 6 months! We knew that we wanted to have fun with it and not drag it out for a year or more. We wanted to be in the moment of happiness. We longed for a family vacation as we are both so incredibly close to our family. So we booked a resort in Mexico. Just our immediate family on both sides came with us in April. There was 20 of us in total. It was an incredibly personal and fun week with the people we loved the most. Then a week later we had a 120 person reception back in Edmonton at the Royal Mayfair. My husband is Jewish, so we incorporated some fun traditions from his side into that night and introduced them to my family and friends. The Jewish Hora wedding dance brought up the energy right from the beginning and got everyone moving and smiling!
Right from the beginning, I knew I wanted a Pure Glamour theme. I love sparkly things, soft things that flow, I love rose gold, crèmes, silvers and big bold flowers. From those specific things…I planned my wedding and stuck to it. I was so thankful that Delica Bridal had a dress that matched that exactly. Also, I hired event designer Cory Christopher. We worked on my vision for months! Him and his team knocked it out of the park. It couldn’t have been any more perfect!
Excuse me while I try to get my heart started again…I mean how GORGEOUS!?
What was your favourite part of the day?
To be honest, sharing Mexico with our family and then coming back home and sharing it with everyone else in our lives was so positive for us. I don’t have a favorite part of the day because I felt so much love and positivity from the whole week in Mexico right up until our reception in Edmonton. I didn’t want the celebrating to end! It was all my favorite!
There was ONE particular moment though in Edmonton at the Royal Mayfair that I really let my emotions go. My sister in law made the most personal and amazing wedding video and slideshow. She put together pictures and video of pre wedding moments, ceremony and celebration from Mexico to show everyone in the room. They all felt like they were there experiencing it with us because of that. That moment made me realize how important everyone was to us and how fortunate I was for everything that has happened to Allon and I up until that moment. I felt so supported and loved. It is an amazing feeling to share something so special and unique with all of your favorite people!
We love this sweet moment between our bride and groom.
What advice would you give to newly engaged brides when they begin the planning process?
To let go! There is now so much information from the wedding industry with its vast amount of accessibility online (Pinterest, Instagram, blogs and more!) that you can collect so much detail. I drew a picture of what was ME and what Allon and I cherished before I searched online for ideas. I didn’t let the pressure of the details get to me. I love that we can search our hearts out for gorgeous ideas and photos now, but make sure you search with the right intention. Don’t collect too many ideas that go far off of who you are and what makes you happy. Be open to creative ideas but do what is YOU. Looking back, everything I picked, was 100% me and approved from my husband. Also, have fun with everything! It is a process filled with smiles and celebration. Always remember why you’re planning…to marry the man of your dreams! The right or wrong table cloth color won’t change that.
Brides take note! Carrie kept her jewelry simple and classic to compliment her personal style, and it was a completely stunning choice.
Regarding the dress…someone during my dress choosing process said to me that I shouldn’t worry because luckily, ALL wedding dresses are stunning. They are supposed to take your breath away and be the most beautiful piece of clothing. It’s true! Every single dress at Delica Bridal took my breath away, really! Each time I saw one, I would think that I could celebrate in that! Because it was stunning. They all were! I didn’t have a cry moment when I put the dress on that I finally chose, but I felt that it was me, it was fun, it was soft, and I could wear it forever. I felt that it matched my heart and the planning process that was going on. I was so content and happy inside when I wore it. You may not have a cry moment and scream I SAY YES TO THIS DRESS!! But know that it should be fun and positive, whether you’re by yourself or with a room full of family and friends. Make sure you smile and take in the experience for how special it is! The ladies at Delica Bridal really made me feel so special and allowed me to shop with the greatest intentions. I went to some fittings by myself just to have a few moments to myself and take it all in. But I was pleasantly comforted and surprised that even though I was by myself getting measured, taped and pinned, I felt like I was with caring girlfriends! The bridal consultants are something special at this boutique. I miss their kindness and personal relationship they created with me during my 6 months!
We were so thrilled to read Carrie’s blog entry because we absolutely love when a bride feels a personal connection to Delica! Our goal is to make sure each bride leaves the shop feeling confident and excited about her wedding gown. From the first time you step into the store to the last alteration appointment we want to help you feel your most beautiful.
Thank you Carrie for being not only a great bride but a pretty wonderful person, we wish you and Allon years of happiness ahead!
